The ONC has released an announcement on their new HTI-1 Proposed Rule and the Public Comment period.
Per the ONC, the proposed rule, “seeks to implement provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act and make updates to the ONC Health IT Certification Program with new and updated standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria. Implementation of the proposed rule’s provisions will advance interoperability, improve transparency, and support the access, exchange, and use of electronic health information.”
The ONC will be hosting a series of information session about the proposed rule in the coming weeks, including an overview session on April 27, 2023. The ONC’s free registration: Webinar Registration – Zoom

PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD NOW OPEN:
Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Certification Program Updates, Algorithm Transparency, and Information Sharing (HTI-1) Proposed Rule
Last week, the ONC announced the HTI-1 proposed rule, which is now published in the Federal Register and available for comment. The proposed rule would implement certain provisions of the 21st Century Cures Act and make several enhancements to the ONC Health IT Certification Program. Now that the proposed rule has been published in the Federal Register, the public comment period is NOW OPEN and will remain open through Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 11:59 PM ET.
