On December 11, 2024, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy (ASTP), published the Health Data, Technology, and Interoperability: Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCATM) (HTI-2) final rule to the Federal Register. ASTP has finalized certain TEFCA-related proposals from the HTI-2 proposed rule to advance interoperability and support the access, exchange, and use of electronic health information.

ASTP intends to finalize additional aspects of the HTI-2 proposed rule in future rulemaking.
