Just a reminder to Health IT Developers who submitted a Real World Test Plan in 2021: the Real World Testing is required this year as part of the ONC Certification Program, so remember to run and document your tests per the schedule in your Real World Test Plan.
Real World Testing reports are due to the SLI Compliance ACB by January 15, 2023.
- The purpose of this Condition and Maintenance of Certification requirement is for Certified Health IT Developers to demonstrate interoperability and functionality of their certified health IT in real world settings and scenarios, rather than in a controlled test environment with an ONC-Authorized Testing Lab.
- Real World Testing verifies that deployed Certified Health IT continues to perform as intended by conducting and measuring observations of interoperability and data exchange.
- These observations are described in a public and transparent way through Real World Testing plans and reported as Real World Testing results.
- Health IT Developers will report to the measures in their Real World Test plan(s).
Please note, the ONC has not provided a template for test records and/or real world test reporting at this time. However, the ONC has created a Real World Test site with information and resources: Real World Testing | HealthIT.gov
